Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro.
Bit of a tongue-twister, yeah? But there's nothing complicated about MMK's super heavyweight funk. Combining the rawest, deepest soulful grooves, the fast and furious energy of rock and roll, and laying it all down in the classiest of funk manners, these six super-dapper gentlemen have been creating a storm around the world with their irresistible new take on how to make people dance.
Fresh out of the Japanese ghetto-funk scene, Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro make a triumphant return to Australia with their second album of modern classic Soul/Groove, 'UHURU PEAK', released January 2012 via Instrumental Recordings / MGM.
UHURU PEAK is all about playing it cool. Tight, well-crafted grooves such as "Just A Rambling Man" ,"Theme Of Kilimanjaro" and "Super Jock Strut" are heavily accented with jazz in addition to the excellent 70's throwback funk & soul that is the cornerstone of the band's sound.
Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro took Australia by storm on their debut tour in 2009/2010 supporting the release of their debut self-titled album, selling out every show on pre sales alone and earning rave reviews for their live performances. Now, the band return, performing at Sydney, Peats Ridge & Woodford Folk Festivals, and at their own headline shows along the East Coast, Melbourne and Adelaide.

UHURU PEAK is another instant classic of up-tempo jazz-lounge infused heavyweight funk from the coolest band out of Japan, and has further cemented their reputation as one of the finest funk units kicking it today; earning the band more of the most heavily sought after festival slots in Japan such as on Asagiri Jam and Fuji Rock.
These young heavyweight groove merchants are well and truly on their way to taking on the world, your feet and your soul.
Don't miss them.
